The OYAA Recreational Soccer Program offers organized recreational level soccer for youth of the community. This gives boys and girls an opportunity to have fun while learning individual and team soccer skills. This volunteer supported the soccer league, which started play in 1989.

Read the Program Dates/Policies page for program dates/deadlines.

  • OYAA Soccer Game Fields (Address, Maps etc)

  • Players are assigned to teams based on their grade level and OLSD middle school attendance area.

  • Pre-K - players must turn 4 yrs old by August 24, 2024 to play the Fall 2024 season.

  • All skill levels welcome
* All teams are coached by volunteers

* Grades 7 & 8 combined, regardless of age.

They play in a MSSA league (Middle School Soccer Assoc) that includes from other communities, so some travel is required for away games (i.e. Dublin, Westerville, Worthington, Gahanna).  MSSA teams do not receive a uniform from OYAA. The team's coach organizes for an additional cost.

  • Grades 9-12, regardless of age (max is 18 years old). They play in a HSSA league (High School Soccer Assoc); OYAA teams play other communities, so some travel is required for away games (i.e. Dublin, Westerville, Worthington, Gahanna). HSSA teams do not receive a uniform from OYAA. The team's coach organizes for an additional cost.

Team Formation Process

  • Teams are created new each fall season (Season #1).

  • Teams created in the fall season remain together for the spring (Season #2). In season #2 (spring) new players are added to existing teams as roster space allows, and/or new teams are formed when there are enough players to complete a roster.

  • Teams do not "carry over" from the spring to fall season.
* During the fall season registration process, parents may request a teammate or coach for consideration.

  •  ALL requests are required to be in the Coach Request or Teammate Request field of the player's online registration.

  • Email requests cannot be accepted for player-team placement.

  • Coaches may not request specific players for their team roster (i.e. sharing an email with a list of players for the team)
* Children of the head coach and assistant coach will be assigned to their team.

REQUESTS

 Coach and Friend:

We try; we really do. However, requests to play for a specific coach, or to play with a specific friend cannot be guaranteed. The domino effect of teammate requests cannot be considered; therefore, your child and one friend should request each other; first and last names are required. Additional names will be deleted from the registration report.

Requests to Play Up:

  • Parents may request siblings be on the same team.

  • Younger siblings may play up one year only

  • Older siblings may not "play down" with a younger sibling.

  • Parents must indicate their request on both player registrations.

  • Final approval at discretion of the program Director.

Practice Information:

  • Practice times and location are determined by the team coach and are limited to a max of two per week.

  • Attendance at practice is expected.

Game Information:

Practices typically begin 2-3 weeks prior to the start of the season. Weather permitting, each recreational team will play an 8-Game schedule at various locations in the Olentangy school district. Most teams play games on Saturdays, with some games on weekday nights and Sunday afternoons in order to complete all of the scheduled games. OYAA makes every effort to reschedule games' weather-related cancellations if days and field space allow. There are no refunds if all games cannot be rescheduled.

Rules & Age Group Specs:

Coaches:

We ALWAYS need good coaches! Lack of coaches is the primary reason that players are turned away. Please volunteer, we provide training and support. Register yourself as a coach when you register your child. Preseason coach workshops are offered each season.
