Winter Weather Policy
1) OYAA weekday events are canceled if school (OLSD) is closed or released early.
2) Weekday school cancellations have no bearing on the weekend event schedule.
3) When Delaware County is placed on a level 2 snow emergency, events will be canceled.
a) During the day, games in progress will finish, but all other games will be canceled for the day. Custodians will be notified.
b) If games are canceled, OYAA will place an announcement at the top of the OYAA home page. No log-in is required.
4) During the weekend, OYAA will monitor weather throughout the day and may opt to cancel games based on predicted weather, even if no snow emergency has been declared.
5) For possible overnight accumulations, OYAA will cancel by 7:00 am on a Saturday and 9:00 am on a Sunday. Once the games are canceled, they will remain canceled for the day.
6) TRAVEL BASKETBALL COACHES – if you are playing an away game (outside of OLSD), please contact the opposing coach to inquire whether the game is canceled. Coaches/parents – you have every right to inform the opposing team (or your coach) that you are not playing due to Delaware County in a level 2. Safety is our number one priority. No game is worth it.
So what do you need to do? Before you head out the door, go to OYAA.org and check for an announcement at the top of the home page. Weekend cancellations will be posted there.
